Why my lead gate is not triggering
The lead gate is supposed to pause the document viewer and show a contact form when a reader reaches the trigger page you set. If visitors are scrolling through your entire document without seeing the gate, something is off in the configuration. Here are the four most likely causes and how to check each one.
Four-step checklist
The lead gate is only available on Essential and Pro plans. It is not included in the Free plan. If you are on the Free plan, the lead gate toggle will appear in the dashboard but it will prompt you to upgrade before it can be enabled. Go to Settings, Billing, and check your current plan.
Open the document in your Emberhop dashboard and go to the "Lead Gate" tab. Make sure the toggle is set to "On" and that a trigger page number is entered. If the toggle is on but the trigger page field is empty or set to zero, the gate will not activate.
If your document has 8 pages and the trigger is set to page 12, the gate will never appear because readers cannot reach page 12. Open the document in Emberhop and note the total page count. Make sure the trigger page is lower than the total page count.
Emberhop uses a browser cookie to remember that a visitor has already submitted the lead gate for a specific document. If you have tested the gate before in the same browser, you will not see it again. Open the page containing the embed in a private or incognito window to test as a first-time visitor.
Changes to lead gate settings take effect immediately. You do not need to re-copy or re-paste the embed code after changing the trigger page or toggling the gate on or off.
If the gate is still not appearing
If you have worked through all four steps and the gate is still not triggering, check whether there was a recent change to the document. If the document was re-uploaded or replaced, the lead gate settings are carried over, but it is worth confirming that the trigger page number still makes sense for the new version of the document.
You can also try clearing your browser cache and cookies for the page, then testing again in a normal browser window (not incognito). If the gate still does not appear, contact Emberhop support with the document ID and a description of what you are seeing in the browser console.
