How to cancel your Emberhop account
If you decide to stop using Emberhop, you can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation is self-serve and takes less than a minute from the billing page. This article explains what happens to your account, your documents, and your data when you cancel.
How to cancel your subscription
To cancel, go to your Emberhop dashboard and navigate to Settings, then Billing. At the bottom of the billing page, you will see a "Cancel subscription" link. Click it and confirm the cancellation in the dialog that appears.
Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period. For example, if you are billed on the 15th of each month and you cancel on the 5th, your plan features (lead gate, document limits, etc.) remain available until the 15th. You will not receive a refund for the days remaining in the period.
After your subscription ends, your account moves to the Free plan. This means only 3 documents can remain active. If you had more than 3 active documents, all documents above that limit will be automatically archived. Archived documents stop showing in embedded viewers on your website.
What happens to your data
After cancellation, your account data is retained on the Free plan for as long as you keep the account open. This includes:
- All uploaded documents (though only 3 can remain active at once).
- Analytics history for all documents.
- All lead submissions collected while on a paid plan.
If you close your Emberhop account entirely (rather than just cancelling the paid plan), there is a 30-day grace period before permanent deletion. During those 30 days, you can reactivate the account by logging back in and contacting support.
Export your data before you go
Before you cancel, it is worth exporting your lead data if you collected any. Go to the Leads section of your dashboard, select all leads, and click "Export CSV". This downloads a file with all lead contact details, submission dates, and document references. Once your account is closed, this data cannot be recovered.
Cancelling your subscription does not immediately delete anything. Your account moves to the Free plan and you can continue using Emberhop with 3 documents at no cost. You only lose access to paid features like the lead gate and expanded document limits.
Reactivating after cancellation
If you cancelled your subscription and want to come back, just go to the billing page and start a new subscription. Your previous documents, analytics, and leads will all still be there if you did not close the account. There is no penalty or re-onboarding process for reactivating.
If you closed your account and are within the 30-day grace period, contact the Emberhop support team. They can reactivate the account before permanent deletion occurs.
